Meet Dr. James Osborn
As a pediatric dentist, it is a great honor to take care of children from all walks of life, helping a child through a dental visit is a great privilege. Having an anxious child have a pain and worry-free visit is the best. Having a child trust me is a great reward. I am excited by the opportunity to coach kids through dental treatment, so they succeed. I also love sowing into children’s lives positive reassurances of God’s plan for them.
Our patients, and their families, are some of the best people in the world. It is an absolute privilege to serve them. God has blessed me with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide gentle, effective, encouraging care for children. I love helping each believe in themselves and understand that we love them for who God made them. I have practiced pediatric dentistry for over ten years. I chose the field as it is the ideal mix of hands-on and hands-off medicine, requiring a surgeon’s touch in non-life-threatening situations, with the knowledge of a pediatrician.
I attended Auburn University, graduating with a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering. I then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry. There I was awarded my Doctorate of Dental Medicine and then my Pediatric Specialty Certificate. Dental school, and the rigorous training in the specialty of pediatric dentistry, gave me a solid foundation of caring for children’s dental needs. That said, the field is constantly advancing and I stay at the forefront of the latest techniques and dental knowledge to benefit my patients.
I grew up in Moulton, Alabama, and have lived in Selma for about ten years now. Dr. Rayne Russell Osborn, my wife and partner in the practice, and I have three sons: Lane, Holden, and Luke. My three boys are my patients and they deserve the best doctor, and dad, possible. I feel the same about each of my patients, too. They are family and their dental care should be the best available! My number one job is being a very present, Christian father to my sons. If I’m not in the office, I can usually be found at home with the boys or out fishing with them. We are also active members of Blue Jean Church in Selma, a church that welcomes people from all walks of life.
